WELLINGTON, November 21.

The selections of the test music for the New Zealand Championship Band Contest to be held in Wellington in February have been announced. In the A grade the two test pieces are to he “Wagner’s “Moistersingers” and Sir Edward Elgar’s “Severn Suite,” which was the championship test at the Crystal Palace Contest at Home jast September, when the famous Fod-

ens Band gained first honours. The “Severn Suite” which was dedicated by the composer, “to his friend, George Bernard Shaw,” has not so far been performed in New Zealand. The A Grade March will be J. Ord Hume’s “B. B. and C. F.” The B Grade Selections are “Hamlet” (by Ambrose Thomas), and Rimmors arrangement of “Mendelssohn’s Works.”

The B Mareli will be Ord Hume’s “Flying Squad.” The entries are very satisfactory being from 13 A Grade and 22 B Grade Bands. ,

For the Hymn test 28 bands are entered.
