VANCOUVER, Nov. 19

A message from Victoria (British Columbia) states the butter market is depressed far below the cost of production, according to opinions expressed' at a meeting of the advisory board of the. firm’s institutes of the province. Demoralisation is said to be attributable substantially to the Austreaty, a secondary factor of great immediate importance being the recent unormous importations from New Zealand. It is stated that* huge shipments of New Zealand butter was now in cold store in the province awaiting release, the moment prices show a sign of recovery. Much butter had entered Canada on consignment to brokers to pell at the best prices obtainable, and by virtue of the absence of a stated price, did not come within the provisions of the anti-dumping clause.

A. resolution was passed asking the Minister for trade and commerce to take immediate steps to protect dairy, sheep, and allied industries from further demoralisation. GREW RESCUED. AFTER SHIP ABANDONED. (RpeMvori this rlav it noon.) NEW YORK, November 19.

The Mauretania rescued the icrew to-day of an eight hundred ton Swedish steamer Gnidia after they had abandoned the ship in two boats, four hundred miles south-east of Cape R.aco.
