NAVAL ORDERS
UNDER MANNED.
OIL TANKER’S CREW PROTEST.

AUCKLAND, November 17
The crew of the Nu-Cla, a navychartered oil tanker, walked off the ship this morning, a,s a further protest against the reduction of the manning scale. They were immediately ordered to remove their gear, and were replaced by twenty men from the naval training ship Philomel Commander Clover remarked that he understood the men were unwilling to leave the ship, blit had been ordered by the Seamen’s Union, and we cannot allow a naval vessel to be held up by an industrial union, he said. The Xu-Cala sailed for Nukuhiva, and thence to Los Angeles.
