WELLINGTON, November 17

Several important recommendations made by the Railway Commission for increases in goods rates are still being considered by the Minister in collaboration with the Railways Department. One of the most important of the outstanding recommendations relating to the goods tariffs is that for- the increase of the freight on two separate classes of 'artificial manures. By increasing freight on them, it is hoped to produce £91,000 in additional revenue. There is also the question of the rates upon road metal for use by local bodies, an increase in which is estimated by the Commission to bring in ari additional £29,000.
