M.C.C. TEAM AT KIMBERLEY
CAPETOWN, Nov. 15
At Kimberley, the Maryilebone cricketers had their first experience of a matting wicket in a match against Griqualand AVest. This is an interesting match, as the Griquns are expected to'provide a number of players for the two matting tests at- Tnbannesburg. All of the South. African selectors were present. Bnlaskas was the most impressive nlaver, and he probably has played himself into the tests. He is nimble on 'his feet, and he offered a stubborn defence. With’ Helfrieh, ‘the seven-teen-year-old player, he added 100 for the fifth wicket in '95 minutes.
At stuiiios the Gricuialand score was 230 for four, Nicholson making 57. while Balaskas is 82 and Helfrieh 36, both not out.
