ELECTRIC DANGER
UNLICENSED WIREMEN’S WORK

TE AROHA, November 14.
Thomas Henry Billing, theatre proprietor, and three men employed by him' were prosecuted by the Registrar of the Electric Wiremen’s Board, for performing unlicensed work in connection with the electrical installation, in the Majestic Theatre at Te. Aroha, and there were six charges against Billing, including that of witholding information, and three separate charges against John William George Capstiek, William Reginald Caldwell, and Eric Darby. Evidence was given by the Borough Electrical Inspector that fuses varying from five to ten times the necessary strength had been used, and on one occasion, witness had been severely shaken by coming in contact with faulty wiring. He said the state of affairs at the theatre constituted a verv serious danger.
The Magistrate, Mr F. W. Platts, after commenting on the gravity of the offences, fined Billing £5, with costs; and £ll for having permitted the work to he done by unlicensed men. For performing electrical work without being the holders of licenses, Darby was "fined £2, Caldwell £1 10s, and Capstiek £l. STEALING POWER. TE ABOHA, November 14. Horace Martin, on a charge of fraudulently extracting electricity from the Thames Valley Power Board mains to the value of £2, was fined £5.
