ISLAND SCHOONER WRECKED
MEN’S HAZARDOUS VOYAGE.

APIA, November 11. The auxiliary schooner Rahra, while lying off the Pukapuka Island’ passage at daylight on . October 31st, waiting for. a load of copra for Apia, was strucic by sudden north-east squalls, which smashed her against a reef. The starboard side of the vessel was stove in ,and she was thrown up on to the reef, becoming a total wreck. Her crew of 13 were all rescued after strenuous efforts were made by natives in canoes, v- ■
Captain Delmer, who is 65 years of age, the engineer, George Mann, and two natives of the crew left Pukapuka in a 19-foot open ship's, boat, carrying n small sail. They arrived at Apia at 9 o’clock this morning in an exhausted condition after a hazardous trip, ’They were drenched with water and spray the whole time. v
