ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the Society was held at the County Chani'./ers at 1.40 p.m. yesterday. There were present: Messrs D. J. Evans Alesdam s AlcGavin and Griffon, Revd. vnowles Smith, Alessrs O’. W. Duff, W. E. Richards, J. Aienzies, J. Conning and 11. Osmers. Apology was made for the absence ol Revd. Knights and Air R. Lynn• Til Ae minutes of the previous annual meeting were confirmed. f Air Osmers presented the annual report recording a successful competition session in Alay last, and the balance sheet showing the year opened vith a credit balance of £153 and closed with £l5O. There was a decline of less than £3 for the year, after meeting the expenses ol the ompetitions. Entries increased and prize money was greater. Hie only onint for special comment was a decrease in the donations, only £l4 being received, despite a special appeal by circular.
The report and balance sheet were adopted on the motion of the Chairman seconded by Air Richards. Revd. Knowles Smith moved that the Competitions ho held in the term holidays in May next. Seconded by Mr Conning and carried. The Chairman explainer! last year’s dates were satisfactory all round. The opening would he on a Thursday evening, followed by day sessions on Friday and Saturday, with all day and night competitions on Monday and J ucsday following, and demonstrations to he held on the final Wednesday and Thursday of the season. An nrrang-me-nt on these lines was approved. The election of officers was then proceeded with, a.s follows: — Patrons: Mossrs G. A. Perry (Mayor), and James O’Brien, ALP.
President; Air 1). J. Evans. Vice-Presidents; Father Finerty, Ilevds. Knowles Smith and Knights, Messrs T. K. Y. Seddon and H. Al. Con Ison. Secretary: Air H. Osmers. Treasurer: Mr J. Conning.
Committee: Miss Duff, All's AIoG-av-in, Alessrs Lynn, Aienzies, Richards, Duff,(Coles, Sweney, Stapleton. • Official pianiste: Miss E. Duly, A.T.C.L.
Judges: Mr A. Lilly, Christchurch, Alusic; Air Barton Ginger, Wellington, elocution; Aliss A. Waugh to be consulted regarding the dancing section. In Reference to the syllabus, Aliss Duff,; the President, Air Knowle« Smith, and the Secretary were appointed a revision committee, and have the programme and book oi words issued as early as possible. It was derided to offer two special prizes of £2 2s each for the most 1 promising pupil in the pianoforte and violin sections. They meeting concluded at 5.25 p.m.
