GLEN MASSEY MINERS

RELIEF WORK. (By Telegraph—UrwM Association). HAMILTON, November 12. The Minister of Public Works, the Hon. W. B. Taverner, has advised Mr W. Lee Martin, M.P., that relief work will be provided for the married men who were discharged from the Waipa Colliery at Clen Massey on Friday, consequent on the closing of the mine. The Minister has telegraphed as follows:—“I note that there are 72 men affected, and I have issued instructions that all married men included in that number who are prepared to accept* the work mentioned in my telegram of November 6 are to be offered employment accordingly.” The work referred to is a road improvement scheme between Waingaro and Te Akau.
