BANK ROBBERY
WATER PISTOL USED WITH AMMONIA. (Australian Press Association) SYDNEY/ November 12. When the doors of the head office of the New South Wales State Government Savings Bank, in Elizabeth Street, Sydney, opened to-day, three men, who evidently had gained admittance earlier among the bank employees, rushed towards a window wh&re a teller, Mr Robert Dargan, had cash trays ready for business.
One of the three, using a water pistol, squirted ammonia liquid into Dargon’s face. The latter called i° r help. Another employee then jumped to the counter, but the pistol man was then hurrying out of the door. 'A' chase was made, but it proved futile. The three men disappeared in the crowds. Nothing, however, was taken.
SYDNEY, November 12,
It now appears that during the confusion at the Government State Saving ’Bank in Elizabeth Street, an accomplice of the man with the water pistol grabbed four hundred pounds sterling in notes from the counter, and got away with the bundle.
