PROPELLOR DAMAGED
FORT NICHOLSON IN DOCK
DUNEDIN, November 6
'The steamer Port Nicholson went into dock at Port Chalmers yesterday afternoon in the presence of officers of the Marine Department and of Lloyd’s. To-day two new blades were being fitted on the vessel’s port propeller and one of the blades was being removed from the starboard propellor to be straightened. About fifty hull rivets were being electrically welded where the plates were dented below the port bilge keel. Rivets were being renewed at the bottom of the rudder, which seemed to be slightly bent. The vessel will leave to-morrow for Nelson to discharge the balance of her London
cargo. When asked how the damage to the vessel was occasioned, Captain Gregory, master of the ship, replied that, he had nothing, to say on the subject.
