RELEASED FROM ROTO ROA

AUCaJjAND, Oct. 29

The case of Cecil Hazlett, a farmer of iNortli Taieri, near i>uneain, was terminated in the buiprome Court today when, after surrendering to lun bail, lie was released from the Salvation Army Dome on Roto Ron. Island. Following the habeas corpus procuadiiiigs Tiazlett was on bail which had ibeen granted at the commencement ot the action; and the time for ms surrender expired to-day. Accordingly he appeared before Mr Justice Smith with his counsel, Mr .Milllvan, woo stated that llazietl was there to surrender.

Mr Hamel, who appeareed for StaffCaptain T. Buttimorc, Salvation Army officer in charge of the home, said that the only question to be determined was that of costs and this lodld he settled later, Mr Sullivan agreeing. His Honour said that such being the case Hazlett was then in the custody (of Staff‘Captain Baltimore.

The Court then rose and Staff-Cap-tain Ruttimore was about to take custody when Mr Sullivan produced a recommendation from the home visiting committee recommending that Hazlett’s application for his discharge he acceded to.

Staff-Captain Ruttimore said later that, in view of the reioinmewlation and of the fact that the period which Hazlett hud to sj)end in the home was about to expire, lie had agreed to Ids release, and Hazlett was now freed.
