RADIO PROGRAMME

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd
Mr C. A. L. Treadwell will broadcast from 2YA this evening a talk on l“Thc nationalisation of Industry,” aid Mr W. L. Brice will speak from •3YA on “Treatment and Care of the Hair.” There will’ be a W.E.A. talk from 4YA.
2YA’s concert this evening promises to he one of outstanding merit, the vocalists all being artists of high standing with several years of broadcasting experience behind them—Miss Gladys Edwards (coprano), Miss Hilda Chudley (contralto), Mr Edwin Dennis (tenor) and Mr S. E. Rodger (baritone). An item of outstanding interest on the programme will be “The Quarrel Scene” 'from Sheridan’s famous play “The School for Scandal.’' This will be enacted by Mr Vr.vn Evans and Miss (.’. Nicholas who will also be heard in a sketch entitled “The Baggage.” The Orehestrina under Signor A. P. Truda, will supply the supporting numbers.
The band programme for 3YA has been arranged by Mr J. Noble, conductor of the Christchurch M.un'cipal Ban ( f The assisting vocalists will be Miss Augusta Painter (soprano), Miss Myra Pollard mezzo-soprano,, Mr AV. -f. Bischlager (tenor) and Mr K. M. Fountain (baritone.) This will be the first radio appearance of Miss Painter. Miss Inly Kinsella. talented elocutioniste, will recite.
.Miss Mae Matheson, soprano, will sing at 4YA “Scenes that are Brightest) (from “Maritana”) and two solos from German’s “Merrie England.” Miss Gwenda Burt, contralto will present, in addition to a ballad by Ken-nedy-Frnscr, two popular musical comedy solos. r i 1 1 e male voices will be Mr Cachemaille and Mr Stuart Falconer. Miss E. M. Holland will give dialect recitations. Silent day at IYA.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4th
Miss Patricia McLeod, lyric soprano, operatic solos on lYA’s programme for this evening, “The Doll’s Song” from “Tales of Hoffman).” Miss Molly Atkinson, mezzo-soprano, another promising young singer, and Mr Hugh Woods, bass-baritone. will also be beard. Instrumental items will be provided by the String Octet. Mr A. B. Channel!, M.A. will give a further Topical Talk and Mr Karl Atkinson will give, another of his popular gramophone lecture-recitals, this time on “Voices of the Orchestra.” Tuesday night is “Popular” night at 2YA and a programme of that type will be presented. Light vocal numbers will be given bv Miss Ella Fair ajid Mr A .W. Beck ford, sopra.no and baritone respectively. Novelty instrumental items will be furnished by Mrs Mildred Kenny’s Mandolin Band, the items comprising two grouos of popular melodies. Two always welcome entertainers. Mr Will McKeon and Miss Mai sic Oakes, will contribute popular songs, duets and humorous numbers and sketches. The Salon Orchestra, under Mr M. T. Dixon, will play. The Dunedin Choral Society is holding one of its finest concerts in the Town Hall, Dunedin, and 4YA will conduct a relay of this performance. Silent day at 3YA.
The talk to be given by the Home Science Department of Otago University to-morrow afternoon from 4Y\ will be on “Seme Suggestions for Children’s Parties.”
