AIR FORBES’S VIEWS
LONDON, October 29
Hon. Mr Forbes, New Zealand Prime Minister, 1 speaking at a luncheon tendered by economic groups of the House of Lords and the House of Commons, and' held in Parliament, House,. emphasised that New Zealand was quite content with the existing constitutional position. Regarding Empire Trade, he saidj/that the Dominions had in no-wise come to Britain to seek-'a- bargain to have the privileges and the preferences that are given by' tlie one side; weighed in the balance against a quid pro quo, hut only to seek for mutual arrangements, voluntarily, freely and spontaneously made for the advantage of the whole family. This would, he said be only attainable when the people of Britain had made, up their minds as to what fiscal policy would be of the greatest benefit to themselves’ and to the whole Empire.
