TWO DEATHS
MOTOR CYCLE CRASH. \By Telegraph—Preau Association i AUCKLAND, October 29. A young motor cyclist was killed instantly and a girl who was pillion riding received injuries from which she died later in Auckland hospital, when a motor • eye Ice crashed into a stationary motor truck on New North Road, near Emiesmore Road, Mt. Albert, this afternoon. The motor cyclist was William Antony Wyvill Thompson, aged 20, of Green Lane and the girl was Florence' H. McDonnell, aged 16, of Mt. Edeti. Such was the force with which the machine- struck the half ton motor lorry that although the brakes were on, the lorry was moved a distance of 98 feet, and mounted a kerb before coming to rest. Thompson was taken from beneath the wreckage of the machine, which had crumpled to vieces, but, Miss McDonnell had been thrown some distance clear. She was unconscious, and was suffering from terrible head itfjuries. She was attended bv Dr. Graham Lindsay, and
was taken hv the St. John Ambulance to Auckland hospital where she died about 4.30 o’clock, without having regained consciousness. The two riders were returning to the city for Avondale. Apparently no one saw the actual accident, to which attention was attracted by the ; noire of the impact. It is believed that a tyre blew out, causing the motor cycle to swerve into the truck, which was drawn up in front of a shop. The rear of the truck was considerably damaged.
