CRICKET

A meeting of the Southern Cricket Sub-Association was held at Hokitika on Wednesday. Mr C. J. King presided. Present: S- Whitehead (Rr.iatapu), S. Ogilvie (Rimu), 0. J. King (Hokitika., Ross and Kanieri.) Minutes of \suo previous meeting were read and confirmed.

The Secretary reported that Ross Club would he included in the senior competition .for 1930. The Secretary reported that the loi lowing points had been scored by tin following Ululls during the 1929-80 competitions. W. L. P. Kanieri 4 2 9 Ruatapu 4 2 8 Rimu ... 2 4 5 Eokilika 2 4 4 Kanieri were declared the winners of- tlm Keller Challenge Cup lor ] 92930. Resolved to play three rounds for the season commencing November 9, 1939. The winning club in the Southern Association to play the winning team of the Northern Association, locality to be discussed later on in the seuson. In the event of rain preventing play on any of the the game to be called on the next suitable Sunday., It was decided to affiliate with the West Coast Cricket Association. Mr C. J. King was re-elected -Secretary of Southern Sub-Association. The following is the result of the drawing for the first round:— November 9th:—Rualapu v. Kanieri, at Kanieri. Ross v, Hokitika, at Hokitika. Rimu a bye. November 16th :—Rimu v. Ross, at Ross. Kanieri v. Hokitika, at Kanieri.- Ruatapu a bye. November 23rd :—Kanieri v. Rimu. at Rimu. Ruatapu v. Hokitika, at Ruatapu. Ross a bye. November 30th :—Ruatapu v. Rimu. at Rimu. Kanieri v. Ross, at Ross. Hokitika a bye. December 7th:—Rimu v. Hokitika at Hokitika. Ross v. Ruatapu, at Ruatapu. ' Kanieri a bye. Points:—3 points for a win on a completed game;. 2 points for a win on the first innings; 1 point each, for a draw; 3 points for a forfeit. It is very gratifying that- five teams have entered for the senior competitions for the 1930-31 season, and keen contested games are expected. The Ross Club is leading the wav in their keenness by turning out to practice.
