REPEAL OF RESTRICTIONS URGED.

AUCKLAND, October 24. The first activity of an association of Auckland retail confectioners, formed last evening, will be to urge the repeal of restrictions on Sunday tiading. The new organisation is called the Confectionery Retailers’ Association. “if the public did not wish to buy sweets and similar goods on Sunday shops would not remain open,” said Mr J. H. Naylor, convenor of the meeting. “It is not fair that confectioners should he victimised under ah iniquitous and puritanical form of legislation.” Representatives of wholesale firms were present at the meeting, which was attended by about 100 persons. The formation of the Association was unanimously approved.
