HIT BY TRAIN

TWO MEN INJURED

GORE, Oct. 29

Two elderly men, Joseph Cunningham and John Tuack, both farmers of Croyden, were seriously injured in a level crossing smash at 6 o’clock last evening, when a truck driven by Tuack was struck by the InvercargillClinton goods train at Gore railway crossing.

Cunningham was pinned under the truck which was smashed almost beyond recognition. Tuack had a remarkable experience. He was thrown on to the cowcatcher of tlie engine and carried for several yards before the train, which was travelling, slowly pulled up. Both men were conveyed to the hospital where their condition is reported to be serious.
