REGATTA
AT LAKE KANIERI. A large crowd crowd assembled at Lake Kanieri yesterday to witness the Regatta by the Lake Kanieri Boat Club. The racing commenced at 10 a.m. and was continued until midday when an adjournment was made for lunefi. Shortly after the commencement of the, afternoon session a strong southerly wind sprang up making the lake so rough that racing on it was not possible. At 4 p.m. however, the w:rJ abated and it was possible to complete the programme before dark. The following was the results of the day’s racing: “B” Class Chanipiornship for Kanieri Electric Cup, Ist Coventry Boy, R. McMillan; 2nd Gladstone, W. T. Ogilvie. This race proved an interesting contest the Gladstone showing a surprising turn of speed. “C” Class Championship for Burns’ Cup, Ist Pit-a-Put, J. N. Robinson ; •2nd Miss A., L. Gouch. This proved the best race of the day, all boats making a good start and all finishing within 20ft of each other.
