SHIPPING FREIGHTS
RISE IN NOVEMBER. WELLINGTON, October 25. Tlie Overseas Shipping Committee announces that shipping (freights paid in New Zealand on general cargo will, as from November list next, he subject to an additional charge of 5 per cent, in order to cover the present rate ol exchange. The Overseas Shipping Owners’ Commitee announces that, so far a« the lines it represents are concerned, all freight rates and rebates on outward shipping from overseas will continue ou the same basis, and any statement to the contrary is inaccurate. The announcement is nuJde with a desire to remove the apprehension on the part of .some importing firms that shipping from certain channels will ensure savings in freights. It reiterates that all shipping is on the .same looting, and no allowances and no discrimination is made.
