NO OFFICIAL WREATHS. - LONDON, October 23
There is considerable comment on the action of the Foreign Office circulating allied Governments proposing that no official wreaths be placed on the Cenotaph on Armistice Day or on the tombs of Unknown Warriors in the various capitals on official occasions.
It is understood that mast of the other Government agreed with the British Government’s proposal which was animated by the idea that official celebrations must be ended some time, and it was unwise to prolong memories of the war Tor an indefinite period.

CATS AS PETS

A cat on a lead following its mistress in the street or a lap cat in a motor car, threatents to be. the next sensat:on of up-to-date women. So says Mrs Campbell Fraser, a well known judge at cat shows. The craze has already made some headway. Mrs Frazer points out that ’ cats do not need so much exercise as dogs and are therefore suitable as pets for flat life in big cities. A valuable breed as the blue .Petrsian is well calculated to arouse as .much feminine envy as Pekins.
AGENCY GENERALS. (Received thi« rlav at 10.30 a.m ) LONDON, October 23. “I have .not heard it officially, but it is doubtless correct,” said Mr Addison, when the news was telephoned him of the decision to abolish the Agency General. Mr Addison conveyed the impression that the Government move was no surprise and was probably a prelude to the incorporation of all Agencies General with the High Commissioners office'.
ALDORF MINE TRAGEDY

Communists are organising demonstrations against the mine owners and have called a. general strike throughout the district on Saturday.
