(Bv Telegraph—Press Association). HASTINGS, October 23. The weather conditions for the Peoples’ Day at the Royal Show is very unfavourable. The morning broke fine, 1 but dull, and at 11.30 the rain came, down, and the prospects for the afternoon are not bright. However the black outlook did not deter large numbers from proceeding to the Tomoana grounds, and at noon a big crowd was present.
During yesterday’s gale - a strip of galvanised iron was torn off a stall at the grounds and struck Mrs A. E. Clark of Bridge Pah, who sustained a severe gash on the back of the neck. She was hospitalled, but reported this morning to be progressing favourably. Lord and Lady Bledisloe • who have been here since Monday evening, left this morning tor Wellington, . being farewelled by a large crowd at the station. His Excellency was greatly impressed with all he saw in Hawke’s Bay, and predicted a bright future for the province, but emphasised the fact tliat the town and country must work together.
