Uproarious scenes occurred when it was clear that Social lfemo:rats were voting for the Government. National Socialists or Nazis as they are now called cried—“ Wake up Germany,” The Reichstag by 325 to 237 finally approved of a loan of 20) million sterling granted by the International Bankers, known as the Carryover Loan, The Reichstag adjourned until December 12th, Government’s victory is likely to ha.vc l a reassuring effect inside and outside of Germany, due to Social Democrats realisation of the immense issues at stake. They are still the largest party, with 143 seats, and threw their weight on the side of the Ministry, though unrepresented therein.
SOVIET SPY SYSTEM. LONDON, October I 9 The “Morning Post’s” Berlin correspondent says the details of a. remarkable Soviet system of espionage in Balkans and Central Europe, with headquarters at Vienna is published here. Thus far sixty-seven arrests were made in Bucharest and thirty-five in Transylvania. The key cf the organisation’s activity was found when the Roumanian counter espionage service intercepted a letter written with prepared ink. The authorities found the Soviet organisation was adequately financed and had even constructed secret broadcasting stations at Bucharest. Spy organisations there were so carefully organised that none knew of the other’s existence.
A FLYING BOAT,
BERLIN, October 19.
It is announced that a huge Dormer Dox flying boat will fly to America on November 3rd. via Cal shot, Havre and Bermudas without passengers, but will carry mails.
