MR VINCENT WARD
BREAKDOWN IN HEALTH. WELLINGTON, October 14. Leave of’absence for the remainder of the session was granted Mr Vincent Ward, member for Invercargill, to-(lay on the "ground of illness. ‘A few days ago Mr Ward was forced to give up his work,’ and his medical advisers state that he is suffering from a‘breakdown, necessitating a thorough rest from active pursuits. He intends to spend a few weeks at his Heretaunga home and then proceed to England on one of the direct liners. He will be away till early in the new year. During Mr Ward’s absence, the Hon. P. A, de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs and member for Awarua, will attend to business connected with the constituency of Invercargill. ' The new member’s breakdown is not surprising to his political associates who realise the immense strain lie s* rfered during several months preceding the late Sir Joseph Ward’s resignation and death. Then the by-election precipitated Mr Ward into public activity, a further strain on his strength, particularly for the reason that he was quite unused to platform work until the campaign commenced.
