REBELS DEFEATED

RIO DE JANEIRO, October 14
The Brazilian Government has claimed victories over the revolutionists to the south-west and in the north. The Government declares that the rebels arc becoming discouraged by their repeated reverses.
The chief viitorios listed so far are along the two hundred miles Sao PauloI’araiia front., and in the south-west-ern region of the State of Aiinasgeraes.

The -Brnsdlinrt '.revolution has entered the eleventh day, with available reports indicating fedorals thus far have edge in military operations. The federate claim victories in. all sectors, particularly on the two hundred miles Sao Paulo-Pa ran a front in the iStat-e of Afinnsgernes and Eastern Rio Do Janeiro. The Government is credited with two victories in upper Rio De Janeiro, which will remove the menace from the federal capital.
While the federate continue to march through Minusgernes, one of the first three States organising the rebellion, victories in Sao Paulo-Pa-rana. sector are claimed in more than a dozen, towiur with the rebels being WaduaTlyi forced tevuthMa/.-d i.u 'Pav ratia, removing immediate danger to the large city of Sao Paulo, the first goal of southern revolters. Insurgents quarters continue to make general statements saying the advances of the southern revolutionaries have the Federate hadlv worried. Brazil revolutionary headquarters announced to-day that the rebels had captured-the'city of Itaperuna, in the northern-most part of the State of Rio.. ÜbiJaneiro, one hundred miles from the federal capital.
