SENSATIONAL SUICIDE
AFTER TRYING TO BURN HOTEL. (Australian Press Association.) ; SYDNEY, October 14. There were exciting scenes at the fashionable new Lapstone Hotel, which is a popular resort for Blue Mountain motorists near Penrith (at the foot of the mountains) in the early morning to-day, when fires simultaneously occurred in various bedrooms, the bedding and curtains being ablaze. The hotel staff were, being kept busy in extinguishing the flames. The manageress of the hotel, Miss Bedora Fernandez, who was in a hysterical condition, was being, questioned by a Police Sergeant, when she seized a large revolver from the office drawer, and shot herself dead.
The hotel has been in the hands of a receiver, and the police express the. opinion that Miss Fernandez was greatly worried on this account, and that she had made a. desperate attempt to burn down the place. The only damage was that done to the bedding and furnishings.
