An interview with Major L. T. Burwash, published at Toronto, states: — During his return trip to King Williams Land he met Eskimos who formed part of the Peary North Pole Expedition, Burwash is quoted as saving:— “They didn’t know anything about the poles those Eskimos. The poles meant nothing to them, hut when asked whether the white man Peary reached his destination, the Eskimos indicated he hadn’t They told me there had been evidence of despondency among members of the party. There was nothing of jubilation which such a discovery would give rise to. All Eskimo said there had been no rejoicings and no leasts.
