QUARRY ACCIDENT

AUCKLAND, Octpber 12

As a. result of injuries which he received when he was struck by a fall of rock in a quarry at Takapuna, Sidney Herbert Smith, aged 49 years, died in the Auckland Hospital. He lived in Dominion Road, Takapuna, and was married. A MAN’S DEATH. HAMILTON, October 13. Patrick Campbell, aged oO years, married; was discovered lying unconscious on the Main South Road near Rangiriri and he died in the Waikato Hospital yesterday. Deceased when picked up was suffering from a fractured skull and other injuries consi slant with being knocked down by a motor vehicle. No direct evidence as to the cause of the accident was secured. FIRE OUTBREAKS. GISBORNE, October 13. An unoccupied shop and dwelling in Tekaraka owned by. Walter Lewis, also a large house at Hexton owned and occupied by A. 0. Candy were destroyed by fire. INJURED CHINAMEN. WELLINGTON, October 13. Yoe Wall and Yee Woo, the two Chinese who were injured' in the stabbing affray in Tory Street on Friday night, were Iboth in a satisfactory condition at the hospital last night. Yee Wall, it was reported, wa<s suffering from severe self inflicted abdominal wounds and was in an extremely serious state on Friday night »nd ' Saturday.
