GOOD RAINS

SYDNEY, October 12
Bounteous rains have fallen in the wheat belt and in the dairying and pastoral districts, and have assured good crops and summer feed supplies. At Narrabri the fanners, however, find a fly in the ointment as there has been overmuch rain there, which has caused the appearance of rust in some of the crops, while the- effects of late frosts are beginning to develop among other crops. DROP AT RACES. (Received this dav at 9.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, October 13. The attendance at Randwick Spring meeting was the lowest for twenty-five years. It is estimated that the attendance for four days this year aggregated 142,000 compared with 212,000 last year. The totalizator figures for the same period were £159,154 and £250,760 sterling respectively . A YACHTING TRIP. MELBOURNE, October 13.
The yacht Oimara has arrived back from” a trip to Sydney. Members of the crew stated. The trip .iruule, proved the Oimera seaworthy Mid capable of undertaking the cruise to New Zealand in the proposed race across the Tasman, We could not find one challenger m Sydney to race across. They all seemed to regard the trip as too dangerous. However, we have one opponent from New Zealand and we intend to compete in the race. DUTCH FLEET. SYDNEY, Oct. 32. The Dutch fleet from- the East Indus sailed for New Zealand to-day.
