THE CHAIRMAN’S STATEMENT,

Sir I.eveson-Gower (chairman of the test selectors) reveals that lie- has received over four hundred letters criticising and condemning the actions of the committee,in the,recent tests. He added that he was not once called mi to give a casting vote for the selection of any player. He and Chapman were still the best of friends. The most despicable of all was when Wyatt was selected, when there were scores of letters urging him not to play and in some instances cursing him. TEACHERS CRICKET TEAM. WELLINGTON, Oct. 4. The Secretary of the New Zealand Federation of Teachers at Ashbiidge, has received word that the proposed cricket tour of Australian teachers through New Zealand during the summer vacation had been cancelled on account of tlie depression, but they will be pleased to receive a New Zealand team
