In tin? Legislative Council, the Statutes Revision Committee recommended ’’amendments made by the House in New Zealand University Amendment Bill should -not. he agreed to. The “Mine committee . reported the Births, Deaths Registration Amendment B.'d without amendment. London and New Zealand Bank Ltd., Amendment Bill was read a third time and passed. Hon Musters moved the committal-of Nurses and Mid-wives Amendment Bill. Hon. Malcolm moved as an Amendment that the Bill should be committed six months hence. After other members bad expressed opinions regarding the Bill the debate was adjourned until Tuesday. The Council adjourned at 5 p.m. until Tuesday. THE HOUSE. . WELLINGTON, October 4. In the House of Representaives a division was taken on an amendment moved by Mr Harris to reduce the vote for the Post Office Acconint by- £9, as a protest against the failure of the Gov* eminent to give effect to the .recoin* mendations of the petitions committee in the cases of L, K, Rains and five others, ■ •' "" - ’’ f ■ The amendment was defeated ' by 82 to 31, , ' The Estimates for the Post Office were still under discussion when the House rose at <5.33 p.m. till 2.30 *».m, on Monday.
