Paterson, Garnet Perry, and I). J. Evans. Apologies were made for the absence of Dr Te’iclie Lina nil, and Messrs Mclntosh, Baker and Parry. Tile minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed. The outward correspondence was read and approved. IN WAR!) COR RES PON DEN CE, From Department of Internal Affairs notifying removal of protection from Sanilmr deer in the Rotorua district.—Received. From same stating in reply to request that a universal close season fod opossums for a period of three years was under consideration.—Received. From same acknowledging explanation regarding payments for publicity, but' stating the outlay should not be repeated.—'Received From same asking if therewas any objection to certain opossum skins being. stamped after season.—‘Received : a reply to the effect that the extra penalty be. enforced .was approved. From same'Notifying application for deer stalking' f block in South West-land.--Received arid filed. From same acknowledging list of persons to .whom permits to take opossums on occupied areas .had been issued.—Received. From General Post Office remitting £4O 10s game license fees (net amount 1 ) for past season.—Received with thanks. From Department of Tourist Resorts enquiring cost of conveniences suggested for Lake Kailieri.—Received, . inforinatiou to* be obtained. From same stating the Tourist Cottage at Lake Kameri was being put in order.--(Received. From, Westland County Council asking the liability suggested m respect to contribution to conveniences at Lake Kanieri—Received, information to lie supplied. From Grey District Society notifying fry had; been received in good order.—Received: From N.,\ Friend, , Okarito, reporting - regarding staking channel on Okarito Lagoon.-—Received, and no further action to be taken at present- - From J,rimes park reporting on prosecutions pending in respect to seized opossum skins—Received and approved. From Grey District Society asking) the Westland Society to arrange for the liberation of 50,000 brown trout fry in the Taramakua river, the Grey Society agreeing to pay. half cost.— Received and suggestion approved. From North Canterbury Society suggesting the Chief Ranger of that district’ be. appointed a Ranger lor the Westland distnet.—Received and proposal agreed to, and appointment recommended. > GENERAL.
Accounts. To the amount of £BS 19s 6d were passed for payment. A vote of £lO for assistance at the Hatchery owing to the rush of ova, was approved Mr A. C. Ai mstrongv was appointed to sign cheques with the Treasurer. • , A report was received of illegal fishing in the Totara river and Air Tas. Thompson was recommended Tor appointment as 'an Honorary Ranger.
The meeting concluded at 8.10 u-clock.
