The Law of Property Act, introduced by ..-•him in 1922, was a ’ remarkable achievement in co-ordinating comr| plicated laws. Raised to an Earldom, Nov., 1922. His Pectoral address in Glasgow. Nov., 1923, was much criticised. He published in 1924 some likely sketches of contemporary statesmen. He . joined Mr Baldwin’s Cabinet as Sec, for India, Nov.. : 1924. Published “Fourteen English Judges,” and “Famous Trials” 1926, and “Law Life, and Letters’’ in 1927.
