M.L.C. INJURED BY CAR.

(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, September 29. Hon. E. W. Alison, M.L.C., was knocked down by a motor car while waiting for a tram opposite the Government Buildings, and is now receiving medical attention for abrasions and shock. He has been granted leave of absence from the Legislative Council for the remainder of the session. MOTOR CYCLE COLLISION. INVERCARGILL, September 29. Two motor cyclists collided near Woodlands this evening, and, as a result, a young man, named Norman Fitzpatrick, was admitted to the Southland Hospital suffering from severe injuries and concussion. His condition is serious. The other rider Alan Robinson, is suffering from concussion, and is also an inmate df the hospital.

He pointed out that the proper preparation of ( the coal before blasting ' was a statutoi-y requirement under the Coal Mines Act, and its regulations, and that the mine owners had no option in the matter. ’ 1 „
