SOLAR ECLIPSE
N. Z. OBSERVERS AT NIUAFOU,

WELLINGTON, Sept. 29
Dr 0. E. Adams, Dominion Astronomer; with his .party of five observers, landed early this morning at Niuafou Island, where they are to make their observations of the eeliipse of the sun, which take place in Octolber. 'Hie last stage of their journey was made on “H.M.S. Laburnum,” which reported, by radio, that the landing had been made. Details were furnished this afternoon by Commodore Blake. The Expedition arrived at Suva on the Niagara at 9 p.m. on Friday last. They embarked in the Lalburnum, under Commander Charles E. Hotham, D.S.C., on Saturday, and the; ship sailed at noon. A calm passage brought them to Niuafou, where they arrived at 6.30 a.in. to-day. The weather conditions were ideal for landing the party, the stores and instruments. Native boats were used, and the job was completed by ten a.m.
