DEBT CASES. Judgment for plaintiff with costs for amount claimed was given in the following debt cases:— Mary Thompson (Mr Elcoek). v. FBoakes, claim £l4, and costs £2 16s. Same v. George Young, claim £ll and oostn £2 14s. Renton and Co. (Mr Park) v. Charles Howler, claim £9 9s IBs, and costs £1 IDs 6d. BYE-LAWS. Frederick Ranger (Mi 1 Park) v. M. Johnston, a charge of setting snares for opossums on State Forest without permission. Fined 10s and costs 12s, solicitor 21s. W. Gaylor, Borough Inspector, (Mr Park) v. C. H. Guthrcy, a charge of failure to have a tail light on motor car. Fined 5s and costs 10s, solicitor 10s 6d. POLICE CHARGES. Police charged two Greymouth residents with being unlawfully on licensed premises (Railway Hotel) alter hours. After hearing evidence of three witnesses, the charges were dismissed. Same v. three persons (Red Lion Hotel). Two were fined 20s and costs 10s each and one ordered to pay costs 10s. Same v. one person (Pioneer Hotel). Fined 2Gb and costs 10s. Same v. two residents (Dominion Hotel). One was fined 20s and costs 10s and the other to pay costs 10s. Same v. three residents (Pioneer Hotel). One ordered to pay costs 10s. the other fined 40s and casts 10s. The Police charged George Searle with procuring a B.S.A. rifle without a permit. Fined os and costs 10s. Kanieri-Hokitika Sawmill Cov. Ltd. (Mr Murdoch) v Agnes Camming and James Duncan senr,. claim for £9l 14s 6d timber supplied in connection with the rebuilding of a residence at Ivanieri, Mrs Camming being joined with Duncan as defendant. Two other claims arising out- of the same business deal were also heard at the same time.. They were :—Alexander Gumming (Mr El cock) v. James Duncan, claim £25 10s wages; and James L. Manson (Mr. Elcoek) v. James Duncan claim £3l 10s. The defendant claimed 'he was working on wages, while all the. witnesses agreed that he was on a contract. Evidence was given by R.J. Appleton, Mrs Gumming, William Camming, D. P. Stuart-, Alex Camming a.ncl J. I. Manson and the defendant; the latter stating that he agreed on a price and was told to go on. That he made a. draw and paid out same and that he had not made a claim for wages at any time.
Judgment was given for plaintiffs, in each case against James Duncan. In tlie. case of Kanieri-Hokitika Sawmills Coy. Ltd. Judgment was for £9l 14s 6d,' court costs £2 15s. witnesses £3 3s and solicitor £5 11s 6d. In the case of Alex Gumming judgment was for £25 10s, court costs £2, witness 12s, solicitor £4 3s. In the case of James I. Manson, judgment’ivas for £3l 10s. court costs £2, witness 12s, solicitor £4 3s. . An order was also made authorising Mrs Camming to pay the amounts out of- the contract price which she was holding. ADJOURNED. The further hearing of the adjourned ease Bristol Piano. Coy. Ltd. (Mr Sellers) V. C. Harrison (Mr Murdoch) was further adjourned to enable Counsel for defendant to peruse the memorandum of association of the plaintiff' company (a lengthy document).
