PARLIAMENT

THE HOUSE. (By Telegraph—Press Association). WELLINGTON, Sept. 23. ( In the House of Representatives, a letter was read from S. J- McKee, a member of the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Rbard, making a further explanation on the subject of the recent bleach of privilege. Mr M-'Kee 'submitted that there was evidence that he had not stated that Mr Barnard, member for Napier, had been “deliberately lying.” He expressed sincere regret that his remarks bad been interpreted by the reporter for the r ‘Daily Telegraph” as having had such a meaning. On the motion of the Acting Leader of the House, it was decided in view of Mr McKee’s explanation and his expression of regret that no fuifher action should be taken against him.

Two Bills in the name of Mr Fraser, Judicial Proceedings (Regulation of Reports) Bill, and British Nationality and Status of Aliens (in New Zealand) Amendment Bill, were introduced and read a first time. The Dentists Amendment Bill was introduced by Governor-General s message and read a first time. Amendments to Land and Income Tax Amendment Act of the present session, Were introduced by Governor-' General's . message and read a first time. Nurses and Midwives Registration Amendment Dill (Mr Stall 1 worthy) was put through Committee, read a third time, and passed. The House rose at 2.7 n.m. THE COUNCIL. 'ln the Legislative Council Hon. Masters moved for the committal of the Unemployment Bill. Hon. Earnshavv moved an amendment that the Bill should be read after the expiration of six mouths. The debate was adjourned, the Council rising at 5 p.m.
