MAIL SORTING
WONDERFUL AUSTRALIAN INVENTION.
(Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, September 17. An elaborate mail sorting plant which occupied many months to instal in the Sydney General Post Office, costing a hundred and twenty thousand sterling is now in operation. An experiment was carried out with fifty thousand dummy letters. It revealed one hundred per cent, of efficiency. The whole tiling i s automatic, and it is purely an Australian invention. There are one hundred electric motors employed in the mechanism.
