LABOUR MINISTRY
SURVIVES ATTACK. (Australian Press Association) MELBOURNE, September 15
The fate of the Victorian Labour Ministry hung in the ; balance over the week end owing to an attack by the Victoria Branch of the Australian Labour Party, which debated a motion censurng ministry for its failure to provide work and necessities for people. The Prime Minister Mr Hogan, defended the Ministry in a speech of several hours duration, aned finally, the censure was defeated by 88 votes to 72. At the meeting a resolution was carried in an amended form, by 88 to 72, complaining that the Hogan Government was not discharging its primary duty, and should go- further in the direction of providing work and necessities for people. Mr Hogan, the Premier of Victoria, interviewed afterwards, declared that, although the resolution was carried, lie interpreted it as a victory for the Ministry, as it was a very thin conference.
