SCHOLAR’S CLAIM
FAILS AGAINST TEACHER

STRATFORD, September 15
Judgment was given for the defendant in the Magistrate’s Court to-tlay in cases in which Velma Cuff, a I minor, claimed damages from A. H. R. Aniess, Principal of the Technical High School, and Winfred Knight, teacher at the school. One claim against Amess was for alleged slander in wWrds used by Aniess to Winifred Knight in ordering her to search the plaintiff in connection with a reported theft of money at school. ' The Court held that the words were not used as the plaintif alleged, and that one of the words actually used, there was no proof, as required, of special damage. A claim was also made against Ames* and Knight for assault, arising out ol a search of the plaintiff’s person. The Court held that this search was made by consent and that the Headmaster was within his rights in having the search made.
