TAHITI INQUIRY. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association. . AYELLINGTON, Sept 9. The court of inquiry to investigate the loss of the Tahiti comprises Air E. Page, Magistrate, chairman; C'a-pt. L. C. H. AYorrall (one-time master of the Alnkura), and Air W. Parker. The last named is a retired Marine Engineer, who has been appointed an assessor in view of liie fact that the loss of the Tahiti was due to mishaps to the propelling machinery. The inquiry opens on Thursday. CROSSING SMASH INVERCARGILL, Sept. 9. A crossing smash occurred at Lornevilie at 5.30 this evening, when a car driven by Alfred E. Barnett, salesman, of Invercargill, struck a train from Tuatapire. Barnett was thrown against the cattle stop, and was picked up m an unconscious condition, and removed to the hospital suffering from head and body injuries. He is expected to recover. Holding that the Wellington City Council had discretionary power Mr Page S.AI. in a reserved judgment, upheld its action in refusing to grant Gilbert Hamilton AlcMeeking a nearby farmer, a renewal of his license to vend milk in the city: > . The .Magistrate said, having regard to the past record of appellant, he was of opinion that the council, acted rightly. The .refusal of the council to grant AlcMeeking a licen.se did not mean to would have no market for milk. He could sell the whole of his milk to the Wellington Dairy Farmers Co-operative Association, a body from which spbstantially the whole of the city corporation milk supply was drawn. Under that method the milk from every supplier was tested .separately every day.
