At the interval Wellington had a lead of only I—nil. Coast had more than held their own territorially. In the second spell the Wellington forwards went better and four goals were registered. The West Coast forwards made frequent excursions into Wellington territory, but only once managed to net. Miss 0. Stapleton, who played a fine game throughout, was the scorer. For Wellington Misses Maull (2), Hnrper (2), and Foreman secured goals. In Thursday’s game West Coast gained the victory over Southland B by one goal to nil. The West Coast vanguard attacked strongly in the first spell, and it was only sound work by the Maroon rear division that held the attackers off, At half time the scores were one goal to nil. After the interval the Maroons strove hard to equalise, but the defence proved stout, and West Coast deserved their win. Misses 0, Stapleton and MSumner were the outstanding Coast forwards, whilst Misses ,1. Anderson and J. Burrell proved stalwarts in the Maroon rear division.
