LOSS OF TAHITI
THE MAILS,

WELLINGTON, September 4
The P. and T. Department report that 273 bags of the Tahiti’s mail, were transferred to the Ventura. The equivalent of 27 tons in measurement, number of letters actually lost was ten. No bags of registered mail were lost. Two bags from Dunedin and Oamaru, which were previously reported missing, have been found among the mail that was saved.
