RANJI’S BANQUET
WOODFULL LAUDED. (United Prßse Association—By Meotrio Telegraph—Copyright). (Received this day at 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 2. Many ‘cricketers met at Metropole Hotel Brighton to-night at one of the happiest functions of. tlie ' Australian’s . cricket tour, the occasion being Prince Ranjitsinbji’s banquet to the Australian and Sussex teams.
Gorgeously attired Indian servants belonging to the Jam Sahib' Nawanagar’s retinue lent an oriental touch to the festive gathering. Extraordinary tributes were paid to Woodfull, as a great captain and a great gentleman.
“Rangi” announced he hoped to visit Australia for the tests in 1932. MacLaren and Sir Horne ■ Gordon also expect to go, while Duleepsinhji is going to Australia to lear.ii sheep fanning.
It was most interesting to note the presence of the famous originator of the googly bowler, Bosanquet. There was a piquant touch when meeting Grimmett, Bosanquet’s first words were “I iam responsible for you,” after which Grimmett spent well into the early morning in company with the old master.
