At Menangle Park races tu-da.v, the New Zealander, Clopton, 8.13. ridden by Bagby, won the first division of the Welter Handicap, of six furlongs in 1.17. CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB. REDUCTION IN STAKES FOR NOVEMBER MEETING. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 3. There will be a reduction of £2050 in prize money at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s November Meeting, as compared with last year, so the committee lias decided. The main cuts are:—Canterbury Cup by £3OO, Stewards’ Handicap £2OO, Stead Gup, Criterion Handicap, Jockey Club Handicap, Members’ Handicap, Fendalton Handicap, Stoneyhurst Handicap, all by £IOO each. The cause is decreased revenue. The New Zealand Cup is not affected.
