PENYBRYN’S ACTION, ißy Telegraph—Per Press Association AUCKLAND, September 1. The Deputy Mayor, Mr A. T. Entrican, called, upon Captain Salveisen, of the Penybrvn, to-day, and thanked him on behalf of the city, tor the part ho had played in the Tahiti disaster. A document expressing the city’s thanks is to he presented to the Captain. The Governor-General has also written to Captain Salvesen expressing libs personal admiration of the action he took. His Excellency says: “The aid given by. the Penbrvn in what might have been a real tragedy re_ flects great credit upon you and your ship’s company. In saying so, Ilis Excellency feels that lie is expressing the opinion of the whole of the people of New Zealand.”
