SELLING OFF HIS HORSES.

LONDON, Aug. 28.
Lord Derby, one of the foremost racehorse owners apd breeders, according to the Daily Telegraph, is about to make a' considerable reduction in his racing establishment.' He has decided to dispense with the services of his trainer,.. Mr F.;. Butters, and to sell most of his yearlings, a number of mares and horses, and the Stanby House Stables; This; stop is bieing taken owing to the growing pressure of taxation.
It is recalled that in a recent public speech, Lord Derby remarked: ‘“I find that the time is coming if it has not already come, when I may have to consider leaving the home where my ancestors have lived for so many years.”
It is computed that Lord Derby’s horses have won £350,000 in the past decade.
