(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, Aug. 27. In the Legislative Council, two private Bills were read a second time and referred to a Committee of Selection, after which the Council acU journed.
THE HOUSE. In the House of Representatives, the Magistrates Courts Amendment Bill (Mr Mason) was put through the remaining stagers and passed without amendment. Coal Mines Amendment Bill (Mr H. E. Holland) was read a second time pi’o forma and referred to the Goldfields and Mines Committee. Bank of New Zealand Amendment Bill (Mr Langstone) was placed before a Committee of the House and rejected on a division on the short title by 38 to 26.
Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Amendment Bill (Mr Mason) was set down for committal.
Rating Amendment Bill (Mr Mason) was read a second time:
Mr MacMillan withdrew his Cor oners Amendment Bill in view- of the fact that a similar Bill had been introduced in the House from the Legislative Council. Local Elections and Polls Amendment Bill (Mr Mason) and Family Allowances Amendment Bill 'Mr Barnard) were read a second time. The House rose at 10.30 p.m.
