i(By' Telegraph—Per Press Association.' «r> j!’-...’' AUCKLAND, Aug. 27. :J)r Campliell Begg’s criticism of the Dominion hospital control system met with varied comment in Auckland, ■ ./Mr Wallace, Chairman of the Hospital Board said that Dr Begg’s stn.to-ments-.,.were absolute rubbish, and his proposals were the most undemocratic he (Wallace) hnd ever heard of. Dr , Maguire (Hospital Superintendent) after denying that a number of the; conditions complained of by Dr Beg" existed in Auckland Hospital, said he was afraid Begg was up ngninst a sfone wall when he talked of taking -control of the hospitals away from local bodies.
~Dr Gu'nson (member of the Board) agreed that the average stay of patients in a hospital was far too long, and also with “Begg’s remarks re infectious wards. With the glaring de'in 'the system enough changes co ( vtld be made without turning things upside down. (
