SYDNEY PLANE FORCED DOWN

, ; SYDNEY, Aug. 26. ; An aeroplane piloted bv Wing Commander Gilford, who is aide-dercamp to the State Governor, and carrying the Governor’s son, Philip Game; had a forced landing on Manly golf links to-day. Slight damage, was done to the,,aeroplane, but the occupants were uninjured.

An. unidentified plane was reported to have been seen by one resident gassing; pyer Tolaga Bay at 1.30 p.m, to-day. The Observer reported that til© machine* appeared to be in distress. .and ‘‘to wobble a great deal,” /The, eqgine wan .also racing and then 'appearing to stop, . There was heavy • rain, and. thick fog at the time, A thorough search over five miles of "the countryside from the point where the plane was reported, revealed nothing. The machine was not reported, from any other township on the. presumed route which lay southwards. >.

By Hamish Armstrong and accompanied 'by D. Paviour Smith as a Passenger for Tokomaru Bay. This plane, however, did not meet with a mishap yesterday’ as Mr Armstrong 'reported to Dannevirke at 6 p.m. •yesterday that lie was returning to Dannevirke to-day.
